Cake Decorating Course
On Wednesday we started our cake decorating courses and held the 1st one at The Melbourne View Hotel. The course was all about how to professionally cover and decorate a cake. Once the ladies had arrived we started with some simple instructions about cutting, filling and adding ganache to the cakes and soon we were rolling out the sugar paste ready to cover and create those sharp edges. After sharing several different methods with the ladies about covering the cake they all did extremely well and were pleased with their efforts and new found skills.
After a quick coffee break and lemon cupcake we continued onto the decorating and started to attach ribbons and make grease proof paper piping bags.
On this course, we chose to make some small filler roses, a larger rose and some leaves, learning about the different sorts of paste; sugar paste, modelling paste and flower paste, and how to colour them.
